System Analyst

Description:
Under general supervision provides system support to the department consisting of in-depth EPIC Resolute Professional Billing System product line knowledge. Responsible for the generation of customized reports in clarity, database/directory maintenance, assistance with training, system troubleshooting, claims, transmissions, etc.

Job Duties:
- Creation of complex operational and project-related customized reports for the department in EPIC's Clarity (Crystal Reports), includes analysis of need, configuration, and testing.
- Designs, tests and documents specialized billing system work queues to identify miscellaneous errors and discrepancies.
- Analyzes, develops, tests and maintains specialized, non-HL7 interfaces, including report generation.
- Responsible for working with IT staff for the EPIC Resolute Professional Billing System, to participate in end-user upgrade tests and provides input for system set-up and maintenance. Provides most efficient work flow processes and positive outcomes.
- Triages system issues identified through analysis, client or staff discovery, in conjunction with IT Billing System staff.
- Responsible for identifying front-end and back-end billing efficiencies to maximize revenues and maximize the timeliness of payments, which may include the following: In depth analysis of edits and client denial trends; Analysis of patterns and quantity of appeals; Claims analysis tracking of Accounts Receivable trends, both positive and negative at a carrier level for specified aging categories; Cycle time reduction identification, ROI analysis, planning and education; Liaison with outside vendors relative to Revenue Cycle Management.
- Identifies, analyzes, and proposes revenue cycle management improvements to Billing Manager and Senior Director of Billing in a report form that includes: Future system enhancements to provide more efficient work flow in a production environment to provide positive outcomes; Design performance improvement plans to positively impact front end and/or back denials and/or Accounts Receivable Performance.
- Assist with ongoing training and implementation of EPIC Cadence, Prelude, and Resolute in new sites (physician practices, primary care physicians, nursing homes, hospitals, etc).

Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree in information technology, health care, or finance.
- Five years of experience of working with the implementation of a billing system, including the design, creation, and reports of a cache database required.
- Three years insurance billing and revenue cycle management experience required.
- Experience in Resolute Professional Billing, Prelude, Cadence, and Ambulatory experience is required. Must be EPIC Clarity Certified within one year.
- Detailed knowledge of insurance company rules, regulations, CPT and ICD-9 coding, medical necessity requirements.
