Specific Job Description The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWC AD) Air Traffic Control (ATC) Division at the Webster Field Annex of NAS Patuxent River, MD supports the Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility (FACSFAC) systems for the US Navy and Marine Corps. These systems provide military range and air traffic controllers with the information and tools necessary to safely control traffic within military operational areas.

Lockheed Martin has provided FACSFAC software development and maintenance support under contract to NAWCAD for over 25 years and is currently identifying software engineers to perform on the program expected to be awarded July 1, 2011. This requisition is for the key position of Computer Programmer (Air Traffic Control) on the new contract.

The software engineer position will be responsible to analyze, design, code, test and document Air Traffic Control programs and enhancements, and assist with defining and meeting business requirements. The software engineer will also prepare detailed software specifications, provide Air Traffic Control program and system level estimates, and conduct code walkthroughs to assure quality of programs developed by other associates.

Most of the operational FACSFAC software is maintained in a Microsoft development environment, utilizing tools including Visual C++, OpenGL, Visual Basic, SourceSafe, Access, Install Shield, and Project on PC-based systems and networks. Operational software includes FAA/NAS Interfacility Interface, Radar Beacon Processing, Geographical/Mapping, 3-D Graphics, Military Range Control and Area Scheduling applications. Experience with MSAW, ADS-B, ModeS, Approach Control, and ERAM are a definite plus. Ability to obtain a security clearance is required.

Ensures software standards are met.
