The PRODUCT MARKETING MANAGER reports to the Director of Marketing and has day-to-day responsibility for driving marketing strategy, messaging, positioning, pricing, packaging, and field enablement for Data Networks’ programs. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as a reasonable technical knowledge. This position interfaces with marketing, sales and engineering teams.
Requirements:
5+ years of experience driving product marketing for major product lines at both strategic and tactical level
Bachelor’s in business or marketing
Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and third parties.
Must be detail oriented, well-organized, and able to write concise and timely reports.
Individual must be able to represent the company and its offerings in a knowledgeable and professional manner and possess excellent presentation skills.
Must have adept business knowledge of the IT industry and understand its many components including knowledge of various hardware and software applications. Desire an individual with broad knowledge of networking, infrastructure, security, and messaging.
Must be able to work on several projects/deals simultaneously in a fast paced, changing environment and be able to prioritize workload in accordance with business demands.
Must possess excellent analytical skills to understand the Company’s solution offerings, contract and competitive environments as well as excellent decision making skills.
Ability to travel when required.
Must be able to convert technical positioning into key market messages; working in partnership with engineering and marketing, develop product features and functionality that bridge customer business requirements;
Develop product positioning and messaging that defines market trends, technical and environmental shifts, opportunities and risks and differentiates Data Networks’ products in the market; Collaborate with Product Marketing and Marketing Communications to create product related sales and marketing materials;
Demand generation – develop the strategy and manage the marketing programs that drive demand for Data Networks products. Identify areas for product growth and create strategic product line roadmaps to help drive adoption of the product and differentiating features.
Market intelligence –Define buyer persona and be the expert on our buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria; be the expert on our competition. Identify product references for industry and customer referrals. Provide examples of how our customers have successfully deployed our products to solve real business challenges. Organize market research questions and prioritize key technologies of interest to focus innovation discussions and seed marketing thought leadership.
Plan the launch of new products and releases and manage the cross-functional implementation of the plan. Communicate the products and product strategy both internally and externally; Participate in tradeshows, seminars and user conferences.
Communicate the value proposition of the products to the sales team. Develop and align the sales tools that support the selling process of Data Networks products;
Create standard presentations and demo scripts. Develop customer-facing launch materials, release announcements and content for corporate and community websites.
Facilitate channel training including competitive threats and related industry news.
Measure the effectiveness of the marketing plan by defining and tracking business objectives and continuously monitoring current market trends and customer needs. Present product performance and progress against goals in quarterly business and product line reviews.
Work with senior staff to evaluate new platform opportunities.
Write and edit creative marketing communications with ability to translate business goals into persuasive media.
