Department: Operational Services - Work Comp/Health & Safety
Reports to: Director of Divisional Compliance/Work Comp/Healy & Safety

General Description: The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for keeping workers safe, ensuring healthy working environments, and evaluating work sites & work site data. This position would also be responsible for making recommendations around medical monitoring required for work sited occupied by our contract employees. They would also take a primary role in developing, implementing, and changing any policies related to these activities. The Industrial Hygienist would be the primary point of contact and act as Liaison between Aerotek, our clients and our TPA for Medical Services. They would also ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensure necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Program Manager:
- Investigating and examining the workplace for hazards and potential dangers that contract employees would encounter
- Making recommendations on improving the safety of workers
- Conducting scientific research to provide data on possible exposure risks and harmful conditions in the workplace;
- Developing techniques to anticipate and mitigate potentially dangerous situations in the workplace
- Training and educating the sales force, field support, and corporate personnel about job-related risks
- Ensuring that workers are properly following health and safety procedures
- Evaluating and controlling environmental exposures
- Assisting in Emergency Response Planning and Community Right-to-Know initiatives
- Provide knowledge and consultation on Occupational disease, and potentially hazardous agents
- Setting limits on exposure to chemical and physical agents
- Serve as the POC for issues surrounding medical monitoring
- Provide project risk assessments, job safety analyses and job hazard analyses to determine appropriate planning, personal protective gear (PPE) and training requirements. Prepares or coordinates preparation of project-specific health and safety plans (HASPs) and any necessary Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conducts special projects as requested by Leadership
- Communicating effectively with external and internal customers (to include sales, recruiting and admin staff).
- Responding to and resolving EHS complaints/inquiries
- Potential out of town travel required for site survey/inspection to provide risk assessment
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA Laboratory Safety Standards 29 CFR 1910.1450


Job Requirements
Qualifications:
- Ability to lead a team
- BA/BS degree in area of specialty, preferably chemistry, life sciences, engineering or physics
- Prefer accreditation as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) per the guidelines of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH)
- Experience in the process safety management area (refinery, chemical manufacturing, etc.) preferred.
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in the field or in a related area
