JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Document Imaging Lead (DIL) will provide leadership, oversight and support to multidepartmental Document Imaging Technicians for timely education and problem resolution. The Lead is responsible for the routine duties of a Document Imaging Technician with additional responsibilities for oversight of the scanning workflow. Prepares, scans, validates and indexes documents into Meditech. The DIL monitors batches released to permanent storage, investigates batch failures and communicates with technicians as needed. Maintains knowledge of medical record forms, content, order and processes. Maintains scanned records according to department policy. Monitors scanned records for retention period and transfers to shred bins for destruction when retention requirements are met. Oversees scanned documents retention and destruction practices. Ensure equipment is maintained according to maintenance schedule. Assists with system upgrades, testing and development of policies and procedure necessary for efficient operations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent. Previous experience in healthcare environment preferred. One year EDMS scanning experience required. One year experience with Meditech SCA (or current EMDS) preferred. Proficient use of MS Office applications including Word, Excel and email. Ability to get along with other personnel and general public. Effective use in written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Medical Terminology preferred but not required. Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to distinguish colors and discriminate minute details. Able to communicate (written and oral) in English. Demonstrate adequate vision for processing medical records. Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to operate business office machines. Able to bend, stretch and reach as necessary for filing. Some heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) required. May spend long periods of time in sedentary position performing one function.
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to Director of Department. Ability to work independently with minimal ks effectively with departmental employees, other hospital employees, and Medical Staff. Presents a positive and cooperative attitude and team approach to departmental issues.
