Director of Budget and Resource Analysis
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Financial Services, the incumbent will serve as the chief budget officer. Specific duties and responsibilities include: preparing and submitting the university's annual operating budget request to the University System and State of Maryland; preparing and implementing the campus operating budget; monitoring and reporting revenue and expense variances to management; conducting analyses of complex financial issues and presenting results and recommendations to management; fiscal evaluation of new program proposals, processes and operations; long range financial and capital planning; coordinating the student fee process; and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education/ Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in business, public administration or related field and at least eight years of progressive experience in budgetary and financial analysis, preferably in higher education, that includes supervising professional staff; developing complex financial models and executive management reports; and working with large ERP systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP or other similar systems). Must have excellent written and verbal communication, analytical and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. A demonstrated aptitude for applying technology to improve business processes, and the ability to work with large amounts of data and complex analyses is required. Proven ability to work with various software applications such as Microsoft Office with strong emphasis on Excel, and PeopleSoft 8.4 or higher is strongly preferred.
